Barts Arts 2010

Dancers rehearsing for the 2008 event

Update: tickets can be booked online at the Corn Exchange’s website. Click here to visit the event’s page and then click ‘book’ to be taken to the online booking page.  (Update: please note that the Corn Exchange online booking system has not been working for the past few days: if you have problems please phone the booking office on 01635 522733  25/6/10)

The Expressive Arts Faculty and the Parents’ Association are working together to organise an evening of art, music, drama and dance at the Corn Exchange. Anyone who has attended the music, dance or drama competitions, or has seen the stunning art work around the school, will know what our talented students can achieve. This event brings together all aspects of the Expressive Arts for the second time (the first of these events took place in 2008) in this celebration of performance and art at St Barts in what we are sure will be an energy packed and exciting evening.

The number of students involved is being finalised at the time of writing but we expect about 150 musicians, dancers and actors from the school to perform during the evening.  The event will also include a group from George Green’s School, a partner school of St Barts in the Isle of Dogs..  In addition we have booked the display areas on the ground floor of the Corn Exchange for a display of students’ art work in an exhibition which will run from 29th June to 3rd July.

Tickets are £8 for adults and £6 for children and other concessions and can be booked online (see link above) or by phoning the Corn Exchange box office on 01635 522733. Please note that if you have a student performing in the evening, you do not need to buy a ticket for them as seats will be provided in the auditorium.

Why are we doing this?

Partly because we just think it’s a good idea to celebrate what our students are able to achieve by organising this special evening. But also, in addition to fundraising, one of the PA’s aims is to foster connections between students, staff and parents and we think working together on a special event like this is a good way of doing so.

We’re sure this will be an energy packed and very entertaining evening and would be delighted if former, as well as current – and perhaps even future – students and parents could support this event. Our aim is to fill the Corn Exchange and to create a real buzz!
