Huge thanks are due to everyone who worked so hard to make the Bart’s Arts evening at the Corn Exchange such a success. Over 170 students were involved in an evening of dance, drama and music and a wonderful display of art work was organised in the Corn Exchange’s display area from the Tuesday to Saturday of the week. We have received lots of very positive comments about the event, including a number from the Corn Exchange staff who were very impressed by the enthsiasm and behaviour of our students and the standard of their peformance.

Many thanks to everyone who supported the Food Festival and Fete on Saturday – we had a very good day and will publish final details of the amount raised as soon as they are available.

Our next major event is our Bart’s Arts evening at the Corn Exchange on Wednesday 30th June

which we are organising with the Expressive Arts Faculty.  For full details please click here and to book tickets online click here and then click ‘book’ next to Bart’s Arts.  All performers’ parents have been sent a letter about their participation and tickets are selling well so we recommend early booking.  The event is open to everyone, so even if you don’t know a performer you might like to come along to find out what’s possible in dance, art, music and drama at St Bart’s.

Update: many thanks to everyone who supported this sell-out event. There were lots of very positive comments about the evening and both the students and professional singers put on a great show.  As an added bonus we raised over £500 for the school.

The Parents’ Association is working with the Music Department to organise an evening of music from stage and screen. This will be on Saturday 6th March starting at 7.30pm (bar opens at 7.00pm) with a cabaret performed by the team from Movies and Musicals (www.moviesandmusicals.co.uk). They are professional musicians who have performed in a number of the West End shows that will be included in the programme. The evening performance will be preceded by an afternoon workshop with a group of St Bart’s students. At its first meeting of 2009 the l Parents’ Association presented Headteacher Stuart Robinson with a cheque for £22,924.00. The funds will be used to pay for a wide range of items requested by departments at the school, including costumes for the dance department, a printing press, computers, microscopes, cameras, equipment for the school’s Duke of Edinburgh Awards scheme and games for the after school club. The total includes a contribution of £2000 towards an Ad Lucem book fund, which will acquire new books for the library in the new St Bart’s building, and £2000 towards a sculpture project, also related to the new school.

Stuart Robinson said he was delighted that the Parents’ Association members hard work had resulted in such a significant contribution to school funds, adding that the items that would be bought would make a real difference to students.

During the meeting Andrew Cooper completed his term as PA chairman to be replaced by Richard Deal (holding cheque, on the left).
